CHILDREN’S EDUCATION PROJECT
TO VOLUNTEER:
Lawyers and paralegals interested in helping children stay in school will be trained to represent students in special education matters and/or disciplinary hearings. They will also learn how to help older students who have been withdrawn from school but need to return to an educational setting. An important part of advocacy involves working with parents and teachers to find the best tools and services to help students succeed. Another component is representing kids who have been suspended or expelled in order to get them back into school as soon as possible. Those already skilled in these areas of law may begin accepting pro bono referrals immediately.
Training is free for all lawyers and advocates who agree to take two pro bono cases through the Project.
Other support services include:
- Malpractice insurance
- Mentors
- Litigation Fund
